emika takaki
Lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil.

Visual artist whose practice investigates memory, ancestry, and identity within the context of the Japanese-Brazilian diaspora. Her work engages with family archives — including photographic and written records — to explore the relationships between past and present. She works primarily with painting, drawing, and analog photography. Through drawing, she examines the uncertainty of forms and the suspension of meaning. In her painting practice, color becomes a spatial field, where time is manifested through the erasure and accumulation of layered surfaces.

Takaki has recently participated in the 28th Anapolino Art Salon (Anápolis, GO) and the 16th Salão dos Artistas sem Galeria (São Paulo, SP). She is currently one of the selected artists for the 7th Bienal do Sertão (Diamantina, MG).
